The Little Mermaid [G]

Deep under the surface of the open ocean lives King Triton and his merpeople. Amongst them is his youngest daughter, Ariel: a headstrong and adventurous little mermaid who dreams of being on land with the humans. One day, Ariel saves the life of none other than Prince Eric and she falls head over fins in love with him. Understanding that her father would never accept the match, Ariel seeks the help of the wicked and tricky sea witch Ursula and becomes human, but at what cost?

Another Disney classic that should be in every buff’s collection, The Little Mermaid is a fantastic and visually lovely little film that’s filled with adventure, magic, comedy, and romance.

Aw, I LOVE The Little Mermaid! It’s a classic romance story as well as the only Disney in film in which the central characters are fantasy beings. We’ve had fairies in Sleeping Beauty and enchanted furniture in Beauty and the Beast, but only in The Little Mermaid do we actually have heroes and villains that are mythical creatures. The romance story is a complete classic, that of a forbidden love between two star-crossed lovers from completely different worlds, actually completely different species which just sounds weird, but in this film it still makes you swoon and sigh heavily.
The film is filled with memorable characters, but without a doubt the film belongs to Sebastian, the Rastafarian crab who brings us some of the best calypso musical numbers to date. You cannot help but sing along to Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl!
Featuring the voice talents of Jodi Benson, Pat Carroll, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Buddy Hackett, Ben Wright, Paddi Edwards, Jason Marin, Kenneth Mars, and Samuel E. Wright, The Little Mermaid is another timeless Disney classic that’s filled with adventure, sea creatures, magic, comedy, and romance. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

Teenagers. You give them an inch, they swim all over you.
