When Harry Met Sally [M]

When Harry first met Sally, they were sharing a post college trip to New York and ended up hating each other. When they met a second time in an airport years later Harry hardly remembered Sally at all. And when they met a third time still more years later, she was on the verge of breaking up and he was getting a divorce. The two then became close friends, trying not to ruin the friendship with “the sex part”, but as their relationship grows, so too do their true feelings for one another.

Aw this movie is gorgeous! I’m tearing up. It’s light, reflective of modern dating, and packed with warmth, tenderness, and witty charm. I really loved it!

Without a doubt, Nora Ephron’s Academy Award nominated screenplay is the real star of the show. The script is just superb, dripping with comedic, dramatic, and deliciously romantic delights. One of the few screenplays that I’ve seen that makes you laugh one minute, cry the next, and enlighten your mind the entire way through, applause must go to Nora.
Everything about this movie was damned near perfect: it was directed by a skilled comedic director in Rob Reiner, Nora Ephron’s script was delightful, and it was brilliantly cast.
Billy Crystal stars as Harry and he delivers a performance that is smart-mouthed and sometimes arrogant, but at the same time irrepressibly charming and tender. When he’s comforting Sally, he is genuinely tender and soothing. You can see it and it’s absolutely gorgeous! I fell in love with him a little bit.
Meg Ryan stars as Sally and she gave a performance that was prim, structured, high maintenance, understanding, and at times rather funny.
Also starring Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher, When Harry Met Sally is one of the most delightful and perfect romantic comedies that I’ve seen to date. It captures absolutely everything: the spark, the awkwardness, the tenderness, and then the love. Filled with wit, drama, romance, and comedy, it’s ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
