The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring [M]

"It began with the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the elves: immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the dwarf lords: great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted the race of men who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived
for another ring was made."

Deep in the land of Morder, the Dark Lord Sauron forged one ring to rule them all. Thousands of years ago in an epic battle, Sauron was defeated, but the Ring of Power endured and now it has awoken and heard its master’s call. All of Middle Earth is now threatened with the only choice being that the Ring must be destroyed in the very fires that created it. The task of bearing the Ring falls upon a hobbit, Frodo Baggins and, in the Elvish city of Rivendell, a Fellowship is formed consisting of two men, a wizard, four hobbits, a dwarf, and an elf, whose task it is to protect the ring bearer and guide him through the lands to Mount Doom in the land of Morder, the one place where the Ring can be destroyed.

HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING ACHIEVEMENTS IN CINEMATIC HISTORY! Absolutely everything in The Fellowship of the Ring is stunning and staggering to behold and every department that works on bringing movies to the screen is noticed and appreciated in this movie! It’s got everything right: stunts, costumes, music, sets, lighting, script, performances, and direction. Absolutely everything is breathtaking! The brilliance of this movie is almost impossible to describe in words!

An entire trilogy filmed all at the same time and based on Tolkien’s immortal and beloved books, The Lord of the Rings is a breathtaking and genuinely incredible cinematic endeavour that has earned its place in history, winning something like 17 Academy Awards, 11 of which were all awarded to the final instalment, The Return of the King
It’s impossible to list everything that makes this movie so amazing. You simply cannot just say it’s got a great script or comment on the lovely costumes, makeup, visual effects, or performances. Absolutely everything deserves a mention because this here is a movie that draws attention to every single department’s achievements.
The sets are incredible; they literally take your breath away both because of their physical beauty and because of their achievement in labour. The same accolades must be paid to the blacksmiths, swordsmiths, and people who designed and made the armour.
The costumes are just amazing and the people who worked on makeup and prosthetics have to be applauded because the prosthetics and the creature makeup as well as the general makeup were real achievements: real works of art. It is thanks to these people that creatures such as the Uruks and the Goblins and the Orc are real. None of these creatures are computer-generated! These are stunt people wearing loads of heavy prosthetics and giving a performance. It’s absolutely incredible.
The stunt work and swordfights in particular are breathtaking too: you don’t watch them as action and fun, but as serious and beautiful routines, like a dance. The visual effects are a real knockout and the camera work is flawless, using all manner of tricks and techniques from documentary style to swooping aerial shots.
The music is beautiful: dramatic, melancholy, haunting, and festive and it also draws attention to the film departments that would otherwise, in other movies, be neglected or missed entirely. It’s fantastic! And then there are the performances, all of which are just superb and true to the characters so beloved and adored by millions.
Starring Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Sir Ian McKellen, Ian Holm, Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys-Davies, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Sean Bean, Liv Tyler, Cate Blanchett, and Hugo Weaving, The Fellowship of the Ring is a breathtakingly staggering and empowering movie filled with action, adventure, memorable characters, romance, fantasy, magic, danger, suspense, corruption, and comedy. There just are no words to describe how passionately I feel about this movie. Even if you haven’t read the book, you must watch it because it is JUST ASTOUNDING!!!!
