Ferris Bueller's Day Off [PG]

Popular high school student Ferris Bueller wakes up one morning and decides that life moves real fast, and if you don’t make every day count, you’re going to miss out. Armed with this epiphany, Ferris decides to skip school and, roping in his best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane, over the course of a single day, does all the things that most people never do in their entire lifetimes.

Forewarning for any parents, if you don’t want your youngsters exposed to some nasty language, Ferris Bueller may not be the best idea. Even though the film is rated PG, like Sixteen Candles, the F word is used rather openly on one occasion. From writer/producer John Hughes comes another teen comedy, equally on par with Sixteen Candles or Pretty In Pink. Filled with misdemeanours, comedy, friendship, and the occasional bit of crisis, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a wonderful little film that’s witty, funny, and wonderfully light and easy to watch.

Popular high school student Ferris Bueller wakes up one morning and decides that life moves real fast, and if you don’t make every day count, you’re going to end up missing out. Armed with this epiphany, Ferris decides to skip school and, roping in his best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane, in the course of one day, does all the things that most people go their entire lives without doing. But having fun has its risks, and Ferris has to be extra careful not to get caught out by the high school dean who has made it his mission in life to catch Ferris doing something he shouldn’t be doing.

One thing that I particularly like about John Hughes movies, is that they’re all teen-oriented. All the films’ heroes are students and that makes his films really light and easy to watch, with all the dramas of adults left on the sidelines. The words that I can use to describe Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are spontaneous, free, funny, light, and clever. It’s great to see films were the kids are outwitting the adults.
Matthew Broderick stars as the teen sensation himself and I just hearted him. His is the most adorable face to ever grace the screen! He delivered a performance that was charming, clever, manipulative, playful, and wonderfully free-spirited. It’s no wonder that everyone in the movie roots for him.
Starring Jennifer Grey, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones, and Charlie Sheen, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is an original teen comedy that’s packed with misdemeanours, comedy, romance, friendship, vandalism, and the occasional bit of anxiety. It’s a real classic!

Hey batta-batta-batta-batta sa-WING-batta!!
