Pretty In Pink [M]

She’s a special girl from the wrong side of town. He’s a rich heartthrob who asks her to the prom. But as Andie and Blaine’s romance rapidly builds up, it soon becomes threatened by the painful reality of peer pressure.

This right here is where teenage romance films are going down the gurgler in today’s society. Pretty In Pink was all about the barriers of class, something we can all relate to and something that is incredibly romantic. Who needs forbidden love triangles between mortals, vampires, and werewolves when there are films about class, money, and the evil force of peer pressure? Seriously, why aren’t there more films being made like this? This is the ultimate teen romance movie!

Andie is a street-smart and special girl from the rough and penniless side of town. Blaine is a charming heartthrob with a lot of money who fancies Andie. When he finally plucks up the courage to ask her to the prom, it seems that it’s a match made in Heaven. However, as their romance rapidly escalates, it becomes threatened by the harsh and painful reality of peer pressure. Will the lovebirds crack under the strain or will they pull through?

From writer/producer John Hughes comes the ultimate 80s teen romantic comedy. Armed with a stable story, a fast-paced and clever script, and memorable characters, it’s a film that you have to see at least once in your life.
Molly Ringwald stars as Andie and she was lovely. She was charming, headstrong, forceful, and smitten. John Hughes seemed to have a thing for Molly Ringwald, he cast her in a few of his films, but in every one she delivers a memorable and delightful performance.
Although Molly was supposed to be the centre of attention in the film, Jon Cryer who plays her best friend, Duckie, stole her spotlight on more that one occasion. Jon delivered a performance that was energetic, eccentric, free-spirited, amorous, and heartbreakingly smitten. For the entire duration of the film you’re just preying that Duckie will get his happy ending.
Starring Harry Dean Stanton, Annie Potts, James Spader, Andrew McCartney, Jim Hayne, Alexa Kenin, and Kate Vernon, Pretty In Pink is the ultimate teen romantic comedy! Delightfully cheesy and 80s style, it’s filled with romance, comedy, great music, memorable characters, and even more memorable outfits. I absolutely adore this film!
