The Men Who Stare At Goats [M]

There is an experimental unit in the U.S military. They can burst clouds with their mind. They can become invisible. They can walk through walls. They can manipulate their enemies' minds. They are the Men Who Stare At Goats.

Oh my god...
Alright so all four of us, my mum, dad, brother, and myself just finished watching The Men Who Stare At Goats. Possibly the most ingenious and quirky movie ever!

Based on true events, The Men Who Stare At Goats is about Bob, a reporter who is looking for a story, but what he finds is much much more. Whilst in Iraq amidst the warfare, Bob meets a mysterious man called Lyn Cassidy who claims to be part of an experimental U.S military unit that was training a race of super-soldiers who could read enemy thoughts, become invisible, walk through walls, and even stop the heart of a goat. Intrigued, Bob follows Lyn on his wild mission to find the New Earth Army's missing founder Bill Django. What started out as an experience to write about soon becomes an adventure that changes Bob's whole perspective on life.

George Clooney stars as Lyn Cassidy. I must admit that I'm not the biggest George Clooney fan. I think that many of the roles he plays tend to be the rather alike in some way or another. But in this movie, he has definitely moved up a couple of notches in my book. He obviously enjoyed making this movie. You can tell by the way he plays the scenes where he's practicing the arts of the New Earth Army. You can almost feel the rise in blood pressure and the throbbing of his pulse in those scenes. Very intense.
Ewan McGregor plays Bob. I absolutely love Ewan McGregor. He has to be one of my favourite actors. He is just so versatile. In this movie he plays a character that goes through so many different emotional stages that it's very difficult to keep up with him. One moment he's fascinated, the next he's repulsed, and the entire time, you can hear the little man in his head saying "what the f*** are you doing?" Absolutely brilliant!
Teaming up with George and Ewan are Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey, both of whom play their characters very very well. You can't help, but smile whenever you see Jeff with his plait and his flowers and Kevin can be quite the d*** when he sets his mind to it.
Backed up by a hilarious script, a herd of live goats, a good dose of Boston, and numerous Star Wars references, The Men Who Stare At Goats is a timeless classic comedy that will have you confused, intrigued, irritated, singing, and laughing the whole way through.
I mean come on, the cover says starring "George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Goat" how can that NOT make you at least curious to see this movie?

No goats. No glory.
