Toy Story [G]

Woody the cowboy doll has always been Andy’s favourite toy, but that all changes when Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear action figure for his birthday. Now, suddenly, Woody is no longer Andy’s centre of attention and it’s all about Buzz. But when an attempt to get rid of Buzz goes wrong, Woody finds himself and the astronaut in real danger: in the clutches of an evil boy named Sid. In the face of danger, it becomes apparent that Woody and Buzz are going to have to work together if they are ever going to get back to Andy before their beloved family moves house.

Toy Story was the first full-length animated feature to come from Pixar in the 90s and, although the animation may be a little bit primitive in comparison to Pixar’s later films such as Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, and Monsters Inc, the film is a classic in cinematic history, earning its place in The Book.

Woody the cowboy doll has always been Andy’s favourite toy, but that all changes when Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear action figure for his birthday. Now, suddenly, Woody is no longer the centre of attention and it’s all about Buzz, not just with Andy, but with all his toys too. But when an attempt to get rid of Buzz goes wrong, Woody finds himself and the astronaut in very real danger: in the clutches of an evil toy-destroying boy named Sid. In the face of danger, it becomes apparent that Woody and Buzz are going to have to work together if they are ever to escape from Sid and get back to Andy before their beloved family moves house.

Establishing Pixar as a major and brilliant animation studio, Toy Story is just too clever and gorgeous to be enjoyed by a junior audience.
For the younger kids, the animation, the characters, and the action is enough to send them into excitement quivers, but for the adults, the added layer of subtle comedy and clever wit that is infused in the script makes Toy Story all the more memorable. That and the fact that the voice performances from both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are just gold.
Featuring the voice talents of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Annie Potts, John Ratzenberger, and Wallace Shawn, Toy Story is a timeless family film packed with action, adventure, toys, comedy, romance, and friendship. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’ll love it forever!
