Men In Black 3 [M]

Boris the Animal, the last of a vicious alien species wiped out by the MIB has escaped from his solitary confinement on the moon and is headed back to Earth for a bit of revenge. Agent K is the target for Boris’ revenge and, in all agent J’s fifteen years with the Men In Black, he has never seen anything like this: one day he’s talking to K about his lack of emotion and the next he is told that K has been dead for forty years. Boris has managed to travel back in time and stop K from arresting him, therefore altering history, and now J must travel back to 1969, find young K, and help him get rid of Boris once and for all. However, with the threat of an alien invasion drawing ever closer, J finds that he’s really against the clock on this one.

It’s been 15 years since Agents K and J saved the world from a giant cockroach and 10 years since they saved us from the wrath of Serleena. Now, in the year 2012 they are back saving the universe from a whole new type of scum. Men In Black has no expiration date, and is one of the few movies aside from maybe Pirates of the Caribbean that still pulls in the crowds. I have to admit that I was worried about this movie: would the characters change? Would they overdo it with technology? Would the science fiction story become too complex? But I was wrong to worry; Men In Black 3 is pretty damned FANTASTIC and will definitely be making it into the collection.

The first thing that I noticed and loved, really loved about this movie was that it was very in keeping with its predecessors. Although there have been great breakthroughs in technology and computer graphics and stuff, Men In Black 3 stayed with the strength of the characters and did not overload everything with special effects like the prequels to Star Wars did. Yeah, ok, there were a few good technological advancements, which paid homage to Alien, but still… this movie felt like there’d never been a 10-year gap between films and I absolutely loved that!
What’s also very special about this movie too is that it brings in a more emotional story than what we’re used to between K and J. I don’t want to give too much away, but I can tell you that the climax of the movie, well I really wasn’t expecting that
Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson, Jemaine Clement, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alice Eve, and filled with action, violence, cool but not overdone special effects, and even some form of love, Men In Black 3 is just great; a movie that will wholeheartedly be making it into the collection! Finally, in an age where everything is action this, technology here, and explosion that, here is a film that thrives on its good story and characterisation! I LOVED IT!
