After being thrust into a disagreeable partnership, sergeants
Martaugh and Riggs once managed to work together to solve a murder and foil a
great drug deal. Now, once again, they’re hot on the trail of some South
African drug smugglers, but this case becomes more than anything they’ve done
before as their targets are blowing up officers left, right, and centre, armed
with diplomatic immunity. However, when Riggs discovers some terrible truths
about the death of his wife, the case to bring down these bastards becomes more
than police work, it becomes personal.
Packed to bursting with more action,
stunts, explosions, car chases, and romance funnily enough, Lethal Weapon 2 is bigger, better, and
pretty near mind blowing.

before as their targets are blowing up officers left, right, and centre, armed

With the establishment of the
relationship between Martaugh and Riggs firmly founded, Lethal Weapon 2 was an opportunity for the people in the stunt and
special effects departments to strut their stuff. The action in this film is
downright hectic with car chases, fistfights, gunfights, and explosions coming
at you from every corner. Ironically and rather nicely, one of the most tense
and suspenseful scenes as well as comedic and emotionally peaking occurs in the
face of a great explosion involving a toilet. Watch out for that one.
We also
have some great macho action-type one liners thrown into the mix, something
that was sadly lacking in the first one; most of the comedy was achieved
through the screaming fits and freak-outs of the two leads.
Starring Danny
Glover, Mel Gibson, Joe Pesci, Joss Ackland, Derrick O’Connor, Patsy Kensit,
and Darlene Love, Lethal Weapon 2 is
a great, rollicking movie packed with action of every kind as well as romance,
drama, suspense, and comedy. Possibly one of the few sequels that’s better than
its predecessor, I really enjoyed this movie, it having the same weird
preservative of the first one that makes them impervious to the decay of time.
