Former high school foes Schmidt and Jenko both grow up to
become rookie cops, sparking up a strong friendship in the process.
Unfortunately on the job, the two just can’t catch a break until they’re
transferred to a small undercover operation and assigned to pose as students to
bust a big drug ring inside their old alma mater. Living as teenagers the two
revert back to their old adolescent selves, trying to keep up with the changing
times, and they risk both the case and their friendship.
THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING
GENIUS! A perfect action/comedy with a strong heart beating at the centre. It’s
got absolutely everything from drug trips, parties, and hysterical freak-outs
to heart warming friendship and brotherly love to outrageous and
adrenaline-pinching explosions, car chases, and gunplay. Not to mention the
memorable topping-on-the-cake cameo from Johnny Depp, I mean it would have been
completely, inexorably, and universally
blasphemous if he didn’t come into the picture at some point. I’m dying to
watch the series now, THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!

A
particular thing that I really liked about this movie was its amazingly
accurate and mirroring portrayal of life as it is today. The stereotypes and
subcultures of high school are still there, loosely, but the overwhelming sense
of maturity that is currently veiling the planet was really great to watch. The
high school is filled with these accepting and level-headed kids who are
completely and overtly aware of the world around them as oppose to living in a
bubble: issues such as acceptance of sexual orientations, different races, and
economical, global, and environmental awareness are constantly recurring and I
really got a kick out of watching it all. That and the fact that the age of
“old” is a completely irrelevant concept: our two heroes are both in their late
20s and they really do blend in quite well with the seniors.
The screenplay and
the balance of the story really deserves an accolade because with an epic
action/comedy such as this one, it can become really easy and tempting to just
overpower the entire thing with hysterical one-liners, freak-outs, and
shitloads of action. But 21 Jump Street
had this wonderful modern-macho friendship story that ran alongside it and that
story was equally as powerful and noticeable as any of the action or comedic sequences.
The chemistry and the partnership between Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill was
absolute gold, the two just work so well together and there was a passive, but
powerful sense of companionship between them. I really loved it.
Starring Brie
Larson, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Ellie Kamper, Chris Parnell, and
Ice Cube, 21 Jump Street was an
epically brilliant movie that was packed with action, explosions, gunplay,
violence, car chases, physical and verbal comedy, romance, and brotherly love.
IT REALLY WAS BRILLIANT and I will by
buying myself a copy as soon as I get into work tonight!
