It doesn't matter how many times I watch this movie, it gets me every time. It's a classic family movie filled with lots of action, kid heroes and romance. I absolutely love it!
26 years ago, Alan Parish played a board game and then mysteriously disappeared. Now young Judy and Peter, who have moved into Alan's old house, have stumbled upon his game and have continued to play it. After unleashing venomous mosquitoes, an unfriendly bunch of monkeys, and a hungry lion, Judy and Peter release Alan from his jungle prison of Jumanji. This proves helpful as the horrors that came out of the game before Alan won't disappear until a player has reached the middle of the board and said the word "Jumanji". But with the clock running against them and fearsome and horrible creatures appearing left, right and centre, this is going to be one game that Judy and Peter are never going to forget.
I mean, come on! It's a board game that thinks, unleashes deadly animals, and sucks people into a jungle nightmare. What's not to love?
Robin Williams is Alan Parish and, as always, he is brilliant. He has all the best punchlines, but it's not just about the humour. During this rollicking ride of a movie, you experience anticipation, terror, adrenaline, awkwardness, and everything in between, with Robin behind the wheel.
Also starring Bonnie Hunt, David Alan Grier, and a very young Kirsten Dunst, Jumanji is a thrilling and rollicking ride for the entire family. Filled with action, fearsome animals, severe weather conditions, romance, and obnoxious rhymes, Jumanji is a movie that I come back to time and time again. You have not lived until you've seen Jumanji. Classic!
