Neo is now awake and the Chosen One to end the reign of the
machines and awaken the human race. But even gifted with astonishing gifts, Neo
is still just a man and he doubts whether he can bring the prophecy to
fruition. Being already troubled by prophetic nightmares of death, the news
that the machines are tunnelling their way closer and closer to Zion weighs
horribly upon him and a visit to the Oracle does little more than bring further
misery as he, Trinity, and Morpheus are sent to recover a program in hiding
known as the Key Maker. The path ahead is already horribly dangerous, but
another spanner is thrown into the works as the ex-Agent Smith returns with
some unfinished business.
For about the first fifteen minutes I was completely
lost, as I pretty much was the first time I ever saw this movie (I understood
the first one and then completely lost the plot by the time this one came
round), but I was soon able to find my bearings and make my way forward with
the rest of the characters. It’s been a while since I saw the first one, but The Matrix Reloaded proves to be just as
breathtaking and incredible in terms of writing, performances, action, and
special effects as its predecessor. Packed with more incredible fight sequences
as well as an epic highway chase and some kick-arse new characters, THIS MOVIE
ROCKS LIKE A HURRICANE!

Jumping right into these films’ most iconic and
defining characteristics right now: the action sequences and special effects.
Everything is better and more explosive than before. There are numerous
breathtaking fight sequences made graceful by the martial arts and killer speed
and timing and made beautiful by the Wachowski brothers’ favouring of extreme
slow motion to illustrate inhuman speed and agility. The fight sequences are
akin to a dance or the most sophisticated ballet, one can just become mesmerised
and hypnotised watching them. THEY’RE INCREDIBLE!
New friends and new foes are
brought into the mix on this one and some of them are pretty impressive. Agent
Smith now has the ability to clone himself and there’s a rather kick-arse
villainous twin pair that have quite possibly the coolest party trick ever! The
special effects are an absolute knockout… … … There are literally no words to
describe how amazing and absolutely breathtaking they are.
I wish to also give
a massive accolade to Laurence Fishburne whose most memorable and empowering
scene in this movie is when he’s delivering a war speech to Zion. His voice,
the volume, the articulation, the resonance, and absolutely everything made
this one of the most dazzling and moving speeches I’ve seen in a movie and I
think Laurence deserves a medal.
Starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Hugo
Weaving, Helmut Bakaitis, Don Battee, Monica Bellucci, Ian Bliss, Collin Chou, Gloria
Foster, Harry Lennix, Harold Perrineau, Jada Pinkett Smith, Anthony Zerbe, and Randal
Duk Kim, The Matrix Reloaded is a
mind-blowing follow up to the already-mind-blowing first one. Filled with
action, choice, purpose, drama, comedy, and romance, it’s a freaking awesome
movie! I’m really annoyed that my brother has these in his collection and they’re
not in mine. I’ll have to remedy that quick smart huh? THEY’RE AWESOME!
