When engineering billionaire Tony Stark reveals that he is
Iron Man, parties from all over the country and indeed the world start baying
for a piece of his action; some for profit, some for power. But for Ivan Vanko,
it’s about revenge. Out of countless attempts all over the world, Vanko is the
first to successfully recreate the Iron Man suit and soon he joins forces with
Justin Hammer, another engineer eager to get back at Stark. With his health
deteriorating and the people he protects beginning to doubt him, Tony is faced
with problems more complicated than he’s ever known and may have to call in the
help of a friend, if indeed he has any left.
Without a doubt the stars of this film are the people behind
the special effects. The technology and computer graphics were freaking mind
blowing and wholly awesome, creating a whole new generation of technical savvy.
Sorry Apple, but touch screen is so last century compared to this stuff!

Well I’ve already gushed and raved
about the AWESOME special effects, so let’s talk about something else… um, hmm,
well the action and battle sequences were pretty cool too: the use of slow
motion is put to great use, successfully creating the drama and tension of the
scene.
One thing that I did not love
so much about this film was the fact that in practically every conversation
that Stark has, he is talking over someone else so pretty much the entire movie
is just a great battle of trying to get a word in and you find yourself just
giving up and hoping that you’ll be able to follow what’s going on visually,
because you’re sure not going to verbally.
Robert Downey Jr. is back as Stark
and delivers another great performance, playing the self-indulgent,
narcissistic, too-cool-for-school billionaire to absolute perfection.
I also
think that Mickey Rourke who plays the villain or at lease one of them,
deserves a mention as he gave a performance that was really quite fascinating.
He’s not called to do a large amount of dialogue so we can’t applaud the
accent, but he just had such presence; when he was on the screen, you fell
silent, unsure of what he was going to do next: will it be violent or what?
Starring
Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L.
Jackson, Iron Man 2 is a visually
pretty cool movie packed with action, technology, awesome special effects,
great fights, romance, drama, and comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
