Man On a Ledge [M]

Ex-cop and falsely accused wanted fugitive Nick Cassidy stands on the ledge of a tall building whilst New York hostage negotiator, Lydia Mercer, tries to talk him down. The longer Nick stays on the ledge talking to her, the more Lydia realises that Nick may have ulterior motives for being the centre of the city’s attention; which is so as Nick has planned the ultimate diamond heist, with all eyes on him whilst his brother breaks into a vault that holds the diamond that Nick was accused of stealing, proving Nick’s innocence in the process.

Great story yes? Deception, suspense, action, romance, and dramas of dizzying heights, Man On a Ledge was a good action/thriller that harboured something for practically everyone.

The momentum of this movie is all in the writing: the story and the script. The basic plot already grabs interest; the deception, determination, and danger of the whole operation is a strong holder of suspense and intrigue, which keeps the audience at the edge of their seats.
The script was very good, well constructed and balanced with romance, comedy, and the odd bit of banter that relieved the film during some of the more tense and emotional scenes.
I am going to say, though, that there was potential for the film to be a lot more thrilling. The way that it is, Man On a Ledge is very slow moving and it really is because the audience wants to know the protagonist’s innocence is proved that they keep the picture on their screens. Although it’s not a very long film, my eyes kept flicking to the time on the player. So, at the end of the day, there is only one thing that’s really great about this movie, and that is the story’s ability to keep its audience intrigued.
Starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Anthony Mackie, Genesis Rodriguez, Titus Welliver, Edward Burns, Jamie Bell, and Ed Harris, Man On a Ledge was a good movie that was filled with action, suspense, deception, drama, and a bit of comedy. It is a bit slow, but it’s worth persisting with.
