In Time [M]

Will Salas lives in a world where the only currency is time. People are genetically modified to stop aging after 25, the year when their personal clock begins to countdown the minutes left in the one year left of their lives. In Will’s time zone, the ghetto, life is tough, but it gets even tougher when Will is falsely accused of murder. When this happens, Will finds a way to bring down the system that enables the wealthy to live forever whilst the poor, like Will, have to beg, borrow and steal to make it through another day.

WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA! The whole concept of “time is money” has been given literal meaning in this great science fiction action film that’s perfectly balanced with a great story and sold characters. I really enjoyed this movie!

It’s good to see that there are still films being made that are made solely because they have a good, solid story. The plot of In Time was wholly original, easy to grasp, and left itself completely open to all sorts of interpretations from political to societal to financial to emotional. The action, the characters, the performances, the music, the editing, all these were mere trifles in comparison to this wonderful, really wonderful plot. Seriously, it was AWESOME in the true sense of the word awe-some!
The film itself is generally very balanced between the science fiction concept and the action elements of the fugitive and the Robin Hood-esque. We then also have moments of light-hearted banter and comedy slid in intermittently between bouts of romance and character adventure. It’s actually really good.
There are a few minor details and flaws that you can’t help but acknowledge like Amanda Seyfried spending the entire duration of the film running flat out in outrageously high heels, and the two going for a swim and then having their hair suddenly dry and undisturbed when they go back in to the party. But aside from that, In Time was actually a surprisingly good film.
Starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfriend, Cillian Murphy, Shyloh Oostwald, Johnny Galecki, and Colin McGurk, In Time was a really good movie packed with action, science fiction, drama, romance, charity, fugitive chases, and comedy. I was really surprised with it and I would definitely say that it’s worth the watch. BLOODY GREAT STORY! Fantastic!
