The Switch [M]

7 years ago, his best friend Cassie told Wally that she had decided to have a baby on her own. Whilst at her I’m-Getting-Pregnant party, Wally drank a little too much and switched the donor’s sperm with his own. Now, years later, Cassie is back in town with her son Sebastian and, as Wally spends more time with the kids, he realises the connection and now has to pluck up the courage to confront Cassie.

What a lovely little film! It’s original, it’s heart-warming, it’s funny, and it’s completely charming. I’d been hesitant about hiring the movie simply for the fact that it has Jennifer Aniston in it and I’m not the hugest fan of hers. But I do like Jason Bateman and I finally plucked a copy off the shelf at work and sat down to watch it. The Switch was a lovely little comedy that was charming, funny, and just really heart-warming, I think that’s the best word to describe it.

This film had so many things going for it. It was an original story where the central, single complication sets all the following events into motion; in short, Wally changing his neurotic ways and becoming connected. It really was a lovely little romantic comedy that didn’t feel like a romantic comedy. Most rom-coms are sappy and warm and fuzzy and stuff, but this one was just frank and the romance was really subtle. It was just wonderful.
Armed with a simple and funny script, as well as its refreshingly original story, The Switch was really a lovely little film.
Starring Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Jeff Goldblum, and Juliette Lewis, The Switch was a lovely little film filled with romance, friendship, comedy, and epic blunder, and second chances. It really was a pleasant little light film, perfect for an afternoon in with a cup of tea or coffee.
