The Girl Most Likely To... [PG]

Miriam Knight is a fat and homely girl who, whilst at college, is subjected to great and intolerable cruelty by her classmates. One night, she gets into a horrible car crash and, whilst recovering, she is haunted by visions of humiliation. When the bandages are taken off, Miriam is shocked to discover that she’s brand new…and beautiful. Armed with her new killer looks, Miriam decides to pay all her tormenters back… with interest.

Like The Linguini Incident, The Girl Most Likely To… was one of these films that slipped into being under the radar and is one that nearly nobody has ever heard of. It’s a simple story that is filled with glamour, comedy, humiliation, and drama. It’s a great little film from start to finish.

Miriam Knight is a fat and homely girl who, whilst at college, is subjected to great cruelty and humiliation by her classmates. Her being the “ugly duckling” suddenly changes when a terrible car crash leaves her bandaged from head to toe and, when the bandages come off, Miriam is amazed to discover that she has been transformed into a beautiful and seductive woman. Armed with her new killer looks, Miriam decides to dish out a little revenge and sets out pay back her tormentors… with interest.

This was a really nice, simple little movie that was built on a stable story, had a funny little script, and had a happy, albeit somewhat strange, ending.
Stockard Channing stars as Miriam Knight and she was gorgeous. The transformation from “ugly duckling” to “evil swan” was amazing and her performance throughout the entire film was great. From the word “go” she had you rooting for her and when she suffered from the after-effects of great humiliation, you really felt for her. Her sorry and homely performance at the beginning takes a dramatic turn when her new face is revealed and she becomes flirtatious, manipulative, and seductive. A complete 180-degree turn. It was her show from start to finish.
Starring Edward Asner, Susanne Zenor, Jim Backus, Fred Gandy, Larry Wilcox, Dan Spelling, and Warren Berlinger, The Girl Most Likely To… was a wonderful little film that was filled with comedy, glamour, transformation, humiliation, and revenge. It was a delight from start to finish.
