FernGully the Last Rainforest [G]

Many years ago, the evil pollution-loving Hexxus was imprisoned inside a tree and the forest of FernGully was saved. But now humans have unknowingly released Hexxus and he’s out to seek revenge by ravaging and destroying the natural beauty of FernGully. When the curious tree fairy, Crysta, ventures beyond the safe borders of FernGully, she discovers, Zak, a real live human who has been helping cut down trees. Shrinking him down to her size, Crysta takes Zak deep into the heart of FernGully and once Zak sees how beautiful it is, he vows to do whatever he can to protect it. But, with Hexxus already on the warpath, it might be too late.

Another one of my most treasured memories from childhood, FernGully the Last Rainforest is a fantastic animated family film filled with familiar voice talents, action, suspense, catchy songs, and is just visually very beautiful. LOVE IT!

Many many years ago, the evil and pollution-loving Hexxus was captured and imprisoned within an enchanted tree and the rainforest of FernGully was saved. But now, humans have returned to the forest and have unknowingly released Hexxus, who is now out to seek revenge by completely destroying the natural beauty of FernGully. When the curious tree fairy, Crysta, ventures beyond the safe borders of the forest, she discovers a real live human named Zak and, after accidentally shrinking him down to her size, brings him deep into the heart of FernGully. Once Zak sees how beautiful the forest is, he vows to do whatever he can to protect it. But with Hexxus already on the warpath, it may be too late.

Like many of my most favourite childhood movies, this film has a strong message about natural beauty and the destructive power of mankind. The animation is very crisp and, with the use of bright colours, the film makes a very beautiful visual treat.
Featuring the voice talents of Robin Williams (this is the second best voice-over movie that he ever did, Aladdin being the first), Tim Curry (who sings the greatest song ever, Toxic Love), Samantha Mathis, Christian Slater, Jonathan Ward, Grave Zabriskie, Geoffrey Blake, Robert Pastorelli, Cheech Martin, Tommy Chong, and Tone-Loc, FernGully the Last Rainforest is a fantastic movie filled with catchy songs, memorable characters, priceless quotes, drama, romance, danger, and plenty of adventure. A timeless classic that the whole family can enjoy.

  1. FernGully was one of my favorite movies back in the day and still is to this day! Awesome to see people are still talking about it! I'm a subscriber/employee of DISH Network and watched the entire movie on DISHOnline.com on my computer just a little while ago! Cool thing is that all subscribers of DISH and HBO also have the ability to do that on the website absolutely free and can also set up recordings, watch instantly from your DVR (with a Sling Adapter), and rent movies instantly to your receiver for at home viewing! Check it out, it's great! :)
